I’ve been awfully inactive lately, mostly because I’ve been working on my new deviantART account.

If you’d like to see any art I haven’t posted here you may want to check there.

And while I’m here I may as well put up an outline for my next painting:The coloring is coming along nicely, though I must admit, it’s ending up a whole bunch different than intended.

Some New Art, and a New Tablet!

First, some new paintings:The first one’s just a cloud from a side view. I love clouds!The second is also of clouds, but from a looking-up view. Also, it spells Mo (my nickname).

Now, when I got home today, I also found the shiny new graphics tablet I ordered! It’s a Bamboo Fun, by Wacom, and so far it’s been working great; even with my literally old and gray PowerBook G4 (PowerPC, ewwww).

I hope your day’s been as nice as mine!

Blue Eye on a Cloudy Sky (draft 2)

The eye painting has made serious progress (in my opinion, anyway). Here are two versions I have so far:

This is the original. You can see I added in some clouds and sky detail, and cleaned up some of the color in the iris.

The second version is not much different, except it is more realistic, due to showing the reflections of the clouds around it. Some of the colors get a little lost, so I think I prefer the clearer version.

Anyway, the eye is still not done, you may notice it’s still lacking veins and things like that.

Here’s a photoshop picture I’ve been working on. The outlines for it are just circles, and aside from that it’s entirely an airbrush painting. It’s my second airbrush painting yet, and I’m so far impressed with the possibilities.

It’s not actually complete yet, and should be outdated at a later time.

A truthism told to me by my neighbor about photoshop: “The longer you work on it, the better is turns out.”

Here’s the requested illustration for the haiku Evening Sun.

I just threw this together very quickly with Photoshop. It’s primarily just cheesy gradients and a paintbrushed foreground.

I was away all last week in Rhode Island, and now I’m back… After an 11 hour train ride. The engine failed under NYC and we were out for six and a half hours, only one of which I managed to sleep off. Ouch.

Anyway, I hope to get back to writing soon, and am considering taking up Hoh’s challenge and drawing a setting sun for Evening Sun.
